HTML ADDRESS TAG

Introduction of HTML
Tag

HTML
tag is used to define the contact information of author or owner of a document. The
tag was added in HTML3. This tag is available in all subsequent versions of HTML3. It is also included in HTML5.

Many times web developers are confused with the use of the
tag. The
tag should be used to provide the document's author with related contact information such as author's email, mailing address, and social media links.

The
tag should not be used to provide the complete website's contact information. For this, you should use the
tag. The
tag should not be used to provide the postal address of an organization.

If many authors publish in your website, you can attach the address tag to all the authors' articles and provide their contact information.

tag is very useful for readers. From the information provided by the
tag, readers can easily contact the author of that article.

However the contact information of the author can be provided either by
or tag. But it is important to use the
tag, in terms of SEO point of view. Search engines use the
tag for the author ranking.

If a person searches about that author then search engines can show this information by knowledge graph.

The information provided by the HTML
tag shows in the italic style in the webpage.

Syntax of HTML
Tag

The general syntax of the lower
is being given.

                         // author email address
                         // author mailing address
                         // author social media profile links
                </ address>

As you can see in the syntax which is given above, the
tag must be properly closed by the closing tag. You can easily use
and  tags in the
tag.

Attributes of HTML
Tag

There is no element specific attribute of HTML
. This tag supports all global and event attributes of HTML.
