How to configure Search preferences option in blogger settings?

Search preferences option in blogger
Search preferences option in blogger

In this article, you will learn how to configure Meta Tags, Errors and redirections, Crawlers and Indexing and Monetization in Search Preferences of blogger settings. For the SEO point of view, Search Preferences is very important to make your blog search engine friendly because of that you will get more traffic.

How to configure Search preferences option in blogger settings?

1. Open Blogger.com
2. Enter your Gmail/Google Email ID and Password
3. Click on Settings
4. Select Search preferences

Meta Tags

Description - This is a description which will appear under the blog name when link or title of the blog is searched in the search engine. Here you can tell what your blog is about and what kind of information is shared on your blog. You can write about your blog in only 150 characters. I mean, you just have to write your blog's information in 2-3 lines. If you use more than 150 characters, search engines will not index it. So, there is no benefit of using more words.

Example: "A blog about blogging and SEO." As I share information about blogging and SEO, I will have to write about blogging and SEO in the description. You can see the screenshot of my blog's description in the image.

Errors and redirections

Custom Page Not Found (Error 404) – Error 404 page not found problem occurs in almost every blog. When you delete a post or page this error comes at the page or post opening time. With this feature of Blogger, you can control Error 404 page Not Found in your own way. For this, you have to add redirect link code in custom page not found.
If you do not have to make the redirection code, you can copy this code and add it according to the image above in the Custom Page Not Found.

Go to blogger dashboard -> settings -> search preferences -> errors and redirections and click on Custom Page Not Found and paste the code. Here only you have to replace the red text with your URL.

<a href="https://www.mybloghelp.com" target="_blank">Error 404 Page Not Found</a>
<p> The page you searched for is not currently available.  Please Visit<a href="https://www. mybloghelp.com" target="_blank">home page</a>
<a href="https://Facebook.com/ mybloghelp" target="_blank">Contact on Facebook</a>.
</p>

Custom Redirects - This feature is very important to redirect any site to another site. If you have deleted or removed a page from the blog and you want to replace that page with your other page. You can redirect that page to new page. For this, you have to check crawl corrections links on Google Webmaster Tools to find error 404 pages.

Crawlers and Indexing

Google Search Console – If you click on edit option, you will go to Google Webmaster Tool where you can manage your blog and check the status.

Custom robots.txt – In blogger custom robots.txt test feature is a most important part which you have to edit very carefully. Here, your site may be de-index from search engines due to a single wrong setting. Robots.txt test file is used to hide some part of your blog and personal content from search engines.

I will suggest you do not index any blog tag, category, and navigation page. If you want to know more about robots.txt file follow the below link.

  • What is a robots.txt file?
Custom robots header tags - This feature of BlogSpot is more confusing. Most of the blogger does not understand Custom robots header tags. Actually, it's not so hard. Once you become aware of its terms, you can easily do it.
Here, I’ll tell you each and every point in detail.

All – By selecting this option, the search engine will index all the contents of your post and will not affect the SEO.

Noindex – Search engine neither index nor show post in the search result.

Nofollow – the Search engine will not follow the link which is given on the page.

None - The search engine will neither index your post nor read the information given in your post.

Noarchives - The search engine can not index archives of your post i.e. tag and category.

Nosnippet - Search engine can't show your post snippet in a search result.

Noodp - The search engine will not index post metadata, i.e. no word in the post will show.

Notranslate - The search engine can not offer a translation of your post.

Noimageindex - The search engine will not index any image which is given in your post.

Unavailable_after - If you don't want to show the page in search results after a specified date and time, you have to select this option. It should be in RFC 850 format.

Monetization

Custom ads.txt - Custom ads.txt is a text file where you have to click on “Yes” option and write some code. In other words, it is AdSense code of website owner which help to show advertisement on the website. You have to write this code in the monetization text box which you can see below in the screenshot.

“google.com, pub-****************, DIRECT, f08c47fec0942fa0”

Replace red text with your AdSense publisher ID.

When it comes to PHP web development, PHP has an integral role to play for sure. It is a general programming language that is used for server-side scripting in the best way. The development of websites becomes a bit easier with this amazing PHP programming language and that is one of the main reasons why people all over the world are using PHP.

While reaching fewer people than mass media, it targets the right customers which can mean a smaller overall expense and less waste in your viral marketing. Discover more info from https://www.plantedtank.net/forums/members/402333-socialboss.html
